SYNOPSIS
Reflecting O’Toole theatrical legacy, the film is
structured into four acts – each introduced by an O’Toole quote or a quote
about O’Toole that encapsulates his life during a specific period. While
broadly chronological, each act expands into a holistic narrative addressing questions
such as his self believe, alcoholism, relationships with women, belief in
socialism and his selective embrace of Irishness. While O’Toole words (gleaned
from hundreds of hours of archival interviews) act as a narrator of his own
journey, the contributions from other artists, actors and directors put his
words in context.
Although O’Toole reveals himself from the inside out,
the story calls out for informed, independent voices that will be both speculative,
corroborative and contradictive.
Actor Peter O’Toole brought a touch of danger to his
art and a stroke of madness to his life, yet inspired a generation of
moviemakers.
